I also dodnt want it so tight that id appear 3 months pregnant That being said, I had a 1x (strictly for the room). It worked perfectly for me! Received many compliments at my lass reunion.Now, the material is really thicker than I expected, and didn't shrink after washing. Now... if your TRULY a 1X and you want a "tight" fit, stat with the 1X, but if youd like a little room or feel like you may need a spanx, then I would suggest going up a size, so you're not pulling the dress down all night!Great dress!
